Privacy Policy

MatWise ("we", "us") is a training journal for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using MatWise you agree to this policy and our Terms of Use.

What we collect

• Account details: your email address and a securely hashed password (we never store your actual password).
• Profile details you choose to add: display name, profile photo, age, belt and stripes, gym, years training, sessions per week, gi/no-gi preference and goal.
• Training notes: the text you log after sessions and the organised version created from it, plus your game plans.
• Usage data: the dates you log (to calculate streaks), your time zone, and basic technical and analytics data (such as device type, pages visited and errors) to keep the app working and improve it.

How we use it

• To run your account and show you your journal, streaks, stats and game plan.
• To organise your notes and build game plans using AI (see below).
• To show the leaderboard, if you choose to appear on it.
• To keep the service secure, prevent abuse (for example login attempt limits and daily log limits) and fix problems.

We do not sell your personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

AI processing

When you log a session or build a game plan, the relevant text is sent to a third-party AI model provider (currently Google Gemini, accessed through our platform provider) to generate the organised result. Don't include sensitive information about yourself or others, such as health details or other people's full names, in your notes. AI output can be wrong, so always use your own judgment.

What other people can see

Your training notes, email and personal details are private to you and are never shown to other users. If you appear on the leaderboard, other users can see your display name, profile photo, belt, stripes and streak numbers. You can hide yourself at any time in Profile.

Our team can see account and profile information (such as your email, profile details, sign-up date and activity counts) when needed to run, support, moderate and secure MatWise. We don't read the content of your training notes.

Service providers

We use trusted providers to host the app, store data and photos, run AI features and collect basic analytics. They only process data to provide those services to us.

Storage & cookies

We keep you logged in with a token stored in your browser's local storage, and save unsent notes as a draft on your device. Our analytics provider may use cookies or similar technology. We don't use advertising cookies.

How long we keep data

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account in Profile, your profile, notes and game plans are deleted from our database straight away. Some copies may remain in backups or logs for a limited time before they are removed.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, or object to how it's used. You can edit your profile and delete your account in the app at any time, or email us at Kaigalb30@gmail.com and we'll help.

Children

MatWise is for people aged 13 and over. If you're under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has signed up, contact us and we'll delete the account.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and hashed passwords. No online service is 100% secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

International transfers

Our providers may process data in countries other than yours. When that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards where required by law.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll change the date at the top, and if the changes are significant we'll let you know in the app.
